Apr 11, 2019

To inspire the creative spirit in all of us, professionals with popular paint manufacturers put forth their picks for color trends each year. So diverse in nature, each palette proves that shades of color are unlimited, and that there is really no right or wrong. They are meant to inspire and guide you in the development of your very own color story. With this article, we share some beautiful color palettes to help bring your color dreams to life.

Benjamin Moore - Metropolitan AF-690

Gray never seems to go out of style and returns in color palettes year after year. For 2019, Benjamin Moore selected Metropolitan (AF-690), as its color of the year -- a cool gray tone that is versatile and can go in any room in your home. This tone is described by Benjamin Moore, as “calm, composed and effortlessly sophisticated, exuding glamour, beauty and balance.” The coordinating palette shown with Metropolitan includes a host of other cool colors and soft neutrals combining well to create any stylish space.

Sherwin Williams
Cavern Clay – SW7701 (290-C6)

In contrast to Benjamin Moore, Sherwin Williams chose a much bolder color for its 2019 color of the year. They describe it as “forged by sun and fired by desert, ancient, yet fully alive, Bohemian, yet totally refined.” While somewhat dramatic and consistent with southwestern décor, it makes an impactful statement and pairs well with the blues, cream and browns the were chosen as a coordinating color palette.

Behr Blueprint (S470-5)

Behr’s pick of Blueprint, a calming, medium shade is a hybrid of teal and blue. We love that Behr created these combinations of color that show the versatility of coordinating options available.Blueprint combines perfectly with other earth tones, pastels and jewel tones. And for the individual looking to stick with colors within the teal/blue family, there are a host of options to consider in the monochromatic color palette.

Pratt and Lambert
Earthen Trail (4-26)

In keeping with Sherwin William’s earthy tone, Pratt & Lambert Paints released its color pick for 2019 as Earthen Trail, a soft terracotta that leans toward peach vs. clay. We love the look of Earthen Trail with the complementary palette that includes other neutral and some bolder earth tones. In addition, it presented three other palettes with eight shades each that will prove to inspire any homeowner or designer looking to transform a space.
